Body-Mind Centering®

Body-Mind Centering® (BMCSSM) is a unique embodiment awareness practice and approach developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in the late 20th century. Its application is vast, from psychological self-awareness, to healing arts, to performance arts. BMC is a psychoeducational approach that is movement and touch oriented. It promotes an emotional and cognitive awakening. BMC engages awareness by working with perceptual experience, through both various body systems and movement experiences. The senses, such as touch, taste, and smell, and also balance, vision, proprioception, and tactile sensitivity govern perceptions, which drive social emotional meaning making. BMC interventions can support psychological change, as practitioners help clients develop awareness of their senses and perceptions and find strength in difficulties.
