Troll

Troll is a derogatory Internet slang term that as a noun usually refers to individuals who are believed to deliberately seek to achieve one or more of the following goals in online interactions: (1) attract the other users’ full attention; (2) trigger an unpleasant and intense emotional reaction, such as annoyance, embarrassment, or anger, in other users; (3) elicit potentially offensive responses from other users; (4) cause, perpetuate, or escalate conflict; (5) disrupt the ongoing online interaction; or (6) deceive or manipulate others. Thus, trolls are thought to attempt to influence the other users’ attention, emotions, actions, interpersonal relations, and/or the online interaction as a whole in a negative way.
