Malware

The term malware refers to malicious or harmful software. It can also describe code developed with malicious or nefarious intent. This differs from code that is poorly written and causes damage unintentionally. Instead, malware is code written with the specific intent of causing harm to a host system. Hence, the code or software is malicious since it has nefarious intent. It might be intended to destroy content, for example, by deleting files. Or the code could be designed to perform functions such as creating backdoors to systems in order to provide access to unauthorized users.
