Internet Recruiting

One of the main corporate functions that information technology has transformed is the field of human resources management. In particular, the greatest changes in recruitment and selection are considered to be “technology linked” (Ryan et al., 2015), while “Internet recruitment has, in certain ways at least, significantly changed the way in which the entire staffing process is conducted and understood” (Lievens & Harris, 2003, p. 132). This entry examines how recruitment has been altered from traditional processes to digital or electronic ones in what is sometimes called e-recruitment. It discusses the websites used and the characteristics of websites that are important to recruitment. It also looks at the benefits and limitations of Internet recruiting and how companies use social media to vet applicants.
