North Korea
To understand the privacy restrictions and surveillance practices of North Korea, it is important to address the political, social, and legal structure of this reclusive nation. The political philosophy known as Juche became the official state ideology of North Korea, which officially is called the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), in 1972. Juche literally means being the master of revolution and reconstruction and rejecting dependence on others. Related to the ideology of Juche is the principle of Songun, which means military first.
