The events of 9/11 have had a profound influence in security in the Western world, including that of England’s capital, London. With a population of 8.6 million persons and encompassing 1,572 square kilometers in 2015, the task of securing the city is a monumental one. The sheer size of London and its population have accelerated the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance as a means of crime solution, crime prevention, and monitoring public and private spaces, particularly in the wake of terrorist attacks and the perceived mounting threat of homegrown terrorism in the city.
