Immigration is the process whereby individuals migrate to a new country and is often the result of displacement and refugee movements. Immigration has been a divisive and controversial topic throughout history and currently is linked with national security issues for many countries. Popular culture often depicts immigrants as criminally prone. These caricatures depict Latino immigrants as drug lords or gangsters and Middle Eastern immigrants as terrorists.
