Although “watching” has taken place in human societies for eons, the advent of digitalized technology greatly expands the capacity for scrutiny and, potentially, for manipulation of entire populations. Surveillance & Society is an electronic journal that publishes and archives peer-reviewed articles, opinion, reviews, and art drawing from disciplines including sociology, urban studies, business, communication studies, history, English, criminology, law, geography, and critical studies.
