The University of Bonn (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn), founded in 1818, is a leading German research university located in the Federal City of Bonn in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The university enrolls about 31,000 students, including 4,000 from abroad, and employs over 500 professors and over 3,500 professional staff members. The University of Bonn offers 90 degree programs, with particular strengths in mathematics, physics and astronomy, economics, biosciences, and philosophy, and has partnerships with 56 universities in Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Asia.
