The Kingdom of Spain is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy that occupies most of the Iberian Peninsula and is one of the few countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. The fifth largest country in Europe by area, it has been a major figure in European culture, politics, and economics for centuries, and because of its colonial activity, Spanish is the second-most common primary language in the world.
