Mahendra Rao is one of the world’s top experts in human embryonic stem cells and glial stem biology, which deals with the development of the cells that control the nervous system. Rao has established his reputation by heading some of the world’s top research institutions, including the National Institutes of Aging and the Center for Regenerative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Rao is in the unique position of having a background in stem cell research and activities in academia, government, and industry. He has written more than 250 primary research articles and reviews in the field of stem cell biology and holds 10 patents on stem cell technologies.
