Neural: Development and Regeneration Potential

Nervous system development and regeneration are areas still under heavy investigation in biology; however, some of the key mediators in neural development, key genetic components important in neural differentiation, and insights into adult neurogenesis and neural regeneration potential in health and disease have been explained in great detail. The development of the nervous system requires coordination of molecular, cellular, morphological, and anatomical structures as well as precise integration with all other physiological systems in the organism. This article examines the growth factors and molecular events required for proper neural development, aspects of anatomical neural development, and role of neural regeneration in adulthood.
