Netherlands
Research in the therapeutic potential of stem cells has a strong foundation in the Netherlands, which incorporates basic science, translation science, and clinical trials of stem and gene therapies into its research programs. The Netherlands supports embryo storage for research purposes while maintaining limits on cloning procedures. As a result, stem cell research facilities thrive under government and industry support. The Netherlands abides by ethical standards on the conduct of human embryonic stem cell research and participates in collaborative investigations within the country and globally as part of the EuroStemCell network.
