Massachusetts General Hospital

A teaching hospital associated with Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital is the oldest and largest hospital in New England. It is the largest hospital-based research program in the world. With 907 beds, the hospital admits more than 45,000 patients a year and treats more than 1 million outpatients at both the main campus and seven satellite campuses throughout the Boston area, including more than 30,000 surgeries a year and more than 3,500 births. It is the largest nongovernment employer in Boston, with 14,000 employees. The Massachusetts General Trauma Center is the oldest and largest Level One trauma center in New England.
