Lungs are an essential respiratory organ that continuously expand and relax almost 25,000 times in a day. They do this to inhale oxygen from the atmosphere, which, in turn, goes to the bloodstream and is by the body’s cells to work and grow. Those who suffer from any lung disease have difficulty breathing. According to a World Health Organization survey, 4 million people die each year of lung disease because of increasing smoking, environmental pollution, and lower standards of living. Lung disease is a broad term including disease anywhere in the respiratory tract, for example, the airways, alveoli (air sacs), and the interstitium (a thin layer covering the lungs).
