Like other European countries, Italy boasts a robust community of stem cell researchers. Italy’s overarching network is Stem Cell Research (SCR) Italy, which fosters communication and collaboration between organizations and their scientists. But another network, EuroStemCell, also works with universities and institutes to promote synergistic opportunities. Università degli Studi di Milano (UNIMI) and the University of Modena’s Interdepartmental Centre of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine partner with EuroStemCell—whose main area of study in its Laboratory of Stem Laboratory of Stem Cell Biology and Pharmacology of Neurodegenerative Disease is Huntington’s disease. Italy’s Ministry of Health oversees public health safety, while the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) acts as Italy’s regulatory agency.
