Our eyes are windows to the world. Any disease that visually impairs a person can cause a drastic decrease in the quality of life and increase economic burden on society. Vision loss can occur as a result of damage to any part of the eye retina, cornea, or the optic nerve. Although the incidences of blindness are very high following an ophthalmological disease, with further research, stem cell therapies in the future may help restore and improve vision in people suffering from these diseases.
