Dental: Existing or Potential Regenerative Medicine Strategies

Advances in medicine have revolutionized the medical practice and dentistry has not been left behind. The role of stem cell and regenerative medicine in dentistry and its wider impact upon the health care of the patients is one such latest development. The interest in stem cells has grown because they are pluripotent cells and retain the capacity to transform into various types of cells like nerves, bone, teeth, cartilage, and muscles, among various others. This capacity of the stem cells is the basis for the stem cell and regenerative cell therapy. These cells were first identified in the hematopoietic system, but since then have been found to be present in other tissues like dental pulp.
