Columbia University in New York City is one of the world’s preeminent research universities, with programs and departments involved in almost every imaginable area of study. The fifth-oldest college or university in the United States, Columbia has long been a leader in stem cell research. With its efforts in this area concentrated in the Columbia Stem Cell Initiative, the university has produced valuable research that has affected the field in many ways.
