Quantitative research is more generally accepted within the social scientific community because it is reliable and objective and is useful for testing theories and generalising a finding. A quantitative approach to the social scientific study of religion helps simplify a complex religious problem to a limited set of variables, thus establishing cause and effect in direct or indirect relationship patterns between two or more variables.
