Prosperity Gospel

The term prosperity gospel refers broadly to a movement within Pentecostalism that is characterized by themes of abundance, blessing, health, wealth, and victory. The movement has its roots in the United States but is embraced worldwide throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Although the prosperity gospel is globalized, that does not mean it is the same everywhere. Variations of the prosperity gospel need to be accounted for with empirical research that takes into consideration the historical and cultural context and the meaning associated with prosperity.
