Quality Effects Model
The quality effects model is a method of statistical synthesis of data from a set of comparable studies of a problem, and it yields a quantitative summary of the pooled results. It is used in a process called meta-analysis where there is an aggregating of the data and results of a set of studies. The process is widely used in the biomedical sciences, especially in epidemiology and clinical trials.

Because the results from different studies investigating different independent variables are measured on different scales, the dependent variable in a meta-analysis is some standardized measure of effect size.
