Homosexuality

Homosexuality refers to being physically and emotionally attracted to persons of the same sex or gender. In more recent years, homosexual people are more commonly identified as gay for males and lesbian for females. For example, a gay man is an individual who is physically and emotionally attracted to other men, whereas a lesbian woman is an individual who is physically and emotionally attracted to other women. Some people find the term homosexuality to be offensive due to its association with the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, which had classified homosexuality as a mental disorder until 1974.
