Body image refers to an individual’s experiences of his or her appearance. The construct of body image and its components (i.e., subjective and attitudinal) have become increasingly important to researchers, educators, and parents. The reason for this interest is that the majority of women and girls, as well as a growing number of men and boys, are dissatisfied with the appearance of their bodies.
