Voyeurism and Gender

Voyeurism is a sexual interest in which a person gains sexual pleasure from the act of watching others (or fantasizing about watching others) without their knowledge while they engage in a sexual act or an act that is private (e.g., changing, bathing, or toileting). It is classified as a paraphilic disorder (a recurrent and intense sexual interest that causes harm to self or others if acted on) and referred to as voyeuristic disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).
