Adolescence and Gender: Overview

Adolescence is a time of transition: Children move into new roles, learning about adulthood and how to function independently in society. Identity formation, including gender identity, is an integral part of the transition. Puberty is a time of physical change and hormonal development, often leading to increased awareness of sexuality, gender, and associated gender roles.
