Voter Mobility

This entry discusses two aspects of the issue of voter mobility: first, the ability of individuals to move to a given district in an effort to maximize their access to public goods and services on which they place high priority and second, the ease with which voters can move to a new district and the difficulty associated with reregistering to vote there. Although these are two distinct issues, both relate to the ability of voters to convey their policy preferences to political leaders. Differences of policy from state to state also determine the degree of ease with which voters can be mobile and not miss opportunities to cast a ballot.
