Military Pharmaceutical Issues

It is crucial that the U.S. armed forces understand and provide for the medical needs of their soldiers, staff, and civilian patients. More than 10 percent of soldiers in any given division can expect to have some type of medication requirement. The primary goal of pharmaceutical operations in the military is to provide services to military personnel and their families during active duty and retirement. The military pharmacy works closely with armed forces medical staff in the distribution, refill, oversight, readiness, and coordination of pharmaceutical needs in all branches of the U.S. armed forces. If pharmaceutical issues are not addressed and resolved, a military unit may not receive the medications it needs during peaceful times, war, or humanitarian efforts.
