Methamphetamine

Methamphetamine hydrochloride (MA) is a central nervous system stimulant. Although framed as more potent than amphetamine, MA is virtually identical to amphetamine chemically and the two have the same effects. MA is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance, meaning that although it is considered to have medical uses it has a high abuse potential and a high probability of physical or psychological dependence. Because of this, methamphetamine is only available by prescription with no refills allowed. MA has been used as a treatment for allergies, asthma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, narcolepsy, and obesity (among others). Today MA is sold under the brand-name Desoxyn and is recommended for treatment of ADHD and obesity. Street names for MA include crank, crystal, glass, ice, meth, ...
