History of Pharmacy as a Profession: Middle East

The 13 countries that make up the Middle East are heirs to a strong and influential history that has played a key role in the development of pharmacology and the practice of pharmacy. Some of the earliest drug stores in the world were operated by Muslim pharmacists, as early as 754 in Baghdad. This marks the beginnings of pharmacy in the region. The Middle East has seen significant advances thanks to the chemists and other scientists who have lived in this region over the centuries, and Muslim physicians played a significant role in the development and advancement of pharmacology as it is known today.
