One of the more recognizable names in the pharmacological and chemical industries in recent history is Bayer Chemical Company. Today, Bayer is a global company that in fiscal 2014 employed 118,900 people, had sales of EUR 42.2 billion (US$4.6 billion), and marketed about 5,000 products. Bayer AG, located in Leverkusen, Germany, acts as a strategic management holding company overseeing three branches: Health Care, Crop Science, and Material Science. The Bayer workforce is concentrated in Europe but includes many in other locations: 55,200 of the workforce is located in Europe (including 35,800 in Germany); 30,500 in Asia and the Pacific; 16,900 in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East; and 16,300 in North America.
