University of California, San Diego

The University of California at San Diego (UCSD) is a public research university. Established in 1960 and located in La Jolla, near San Diego, this university is recognized for being a student-centered, research-focused, and service-oriented institution. The research program at UCSD is conducted in a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach. The faculty have received global honors for their work in their respective fields, including the Pulitzer Prize, Guggenheim fellowships, and the Nobel Prize for their achievements. In addition, UCSD’s entrepreneurial spirit is displayed by students and researchers who are responsible for more than 300 San Diego– based start-ups.
