RxNorm (National Library of Medicine)

RxNorm is an information clearinghouse available online and maintained under the auspices of the United States National Library of Medicine. It seeks to codify information on all drugs (prescription and over the counter) as well as linked drug protocols currently available so that, doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital, pharmacy to pharmacy, research lab to research lab, vital data on all pharmaceuticals are accurate, current, and consistent across the board, across the country, and around the world. In addition, RxNorm provides critical information about drug-dispensing products and delivery systems.
