The Joan Ganz Cooney Center is a research and innovation lab based at Sesame Workshop. Founded in 2007 as an independent nonprofit organization housed at Sesame Workshop to expand on Sesame Street cofounder Joan Ganz Cooney’s pioneering work to unlock the potential of educational media, the Cooney Center investigates how young children learn and play with digital media and publishes reports that translate both quantitative and qualitative research studies for wider audiences.

Many of the Cooney Center’s publications raise the awareness of trends and practices around digital technologies, education, and family life to shape policies at the school, district, and national levels.
