Community Technology Centers

Community technology centers (CTCs) are typically community-based, nonprofit efforts to provide low-cost or free access to digital resources, computing technologies, and various forms of computational skill training. CTCs target populations that may not have access to such opportunities and aim to decrease the digital divide, or the inequity between those who do and do not have access to computational technologies. By offering a variety of computer resources and skills training to people who do not typically have such opportunities, CTCs and other digital inclusion programs strive to develop a more technologically literate population and a more able workforce and to foster community connectedness.
