Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) is the formal and only news agency in the state of Kuwait. It was founded in 1956 and restructured in 1979 as an independent body according to an Amiri decree from the prince of Kuwait. The aim of the agency is to gather news and distribute it to the public and various media organizations to provide them with objective news services. Formally, KUNA was under the Minister of Information, but it is now separated from the Ministry of Information and has its own independent budget.
