Kenya is located in Eastern Africa’s seaboard neighboring Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania. It covers an area of 580,367 square kilometers, that is, 569,140 square kilometers land and 11,227 square kilometers water. Adoption of the Kenya Constitution of 2010 introduced additional checks and balances to executive power and significant devolution of power and resources to the 47 newly created counties. Various preexisting laws of Kenya were subsequently reviewed to align them to the new constitutional provisions.
