With about 850 stations and an estimated 110 million weekly listeners, iHeartMedia (formerly known as Clear Channel Communications) is the largest private radio broadcaster in the United States. The company has had financial problems in recent years in part because of the rising popularity of music streaming services and satellite radio. In 2018, it filed for bankruptcy with a plan to cut in half its debt of $20 billion.

iHeartMedia was involved in the outdoor advertising business, but in December 2018, it announced plans to spin off Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings as a separate company as part of its bankruptcy reorganization.
