European Alliance of News Agencies

Conceived as a nonprofit membership association of news agencies around Europe, the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) works to promote a media environment in which there is freedom of the press and fair competition. The organization, founded in 1956 and registered in Berne, Switzerland, is made up of about 30 agencies in European countries totaling around 750 million inhabitants. It focuses on issues of common interest to its members, including copyright and information technology. It holds seminars on these issues for members and can speak on behalf of members on issues of concern.
