China, officially People’s Republic of China, is located in East Asia and is the third largest country in the world in terms of geographic size, with an area of 9,596,960 square kilometers (about 3.7 million square miles). It has the largest population of any country in the world at approximately 1.4 billion. Beijing, the capital city of China, is located in the northeastern part of the country.
