Numerical weather prediction is the process of integrating weather observations and current conditions into mathematical computer models, to generate approximations of future atmospheric conditions. Weather forecasting is a term used for the process of informing, communicating, and explaining these predicted events—to an audience—which are derived from numerical weather models and information. Both of these processes, in conjunction with one another, help an audience organize, consider, and utilize the necessary information about an impending weather event.
