Uganda

Uganda is a landlocked republic in the Great Lakes region of East-Central Africa, bordering on Lake Albert to the northwest and Lake Victoria southeast. It shares borders with Kenya to the east, South Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, Rwanda to the southwest, and Tanzania to the south. Uganda has an estimated population of 41.6 million, with 52% of these being female, 56% aged between 0 and 18, and 41% aged below 60. The great majority of the population (84%) lives in the rural areas and are mostly engaged in subsistence farming. Ugandans speak an estimated 36 languages and dialects including English and Kiswahili, the two official languages.
