Thai TV Global Network (TGN), Thailand’s only state-run satellite television channel, was founded in January 1998. The station is operated by Royal Thai Army Radio and Television (Channel 5). TGN broadcasts news around the clock, on subjects that include royal activities, Thai culture, tourism, general issues, entertainment, public relations of the Thai government, and trade promotion.

The chief of Channel 5’s satellite television department directly supervises TGN, while the director of Channel 5 holds executive power over TGN. TGN comprises five sections under its executive branch: (1) general affairs, (2) business development, (3) creative, (4) program production, and (5) broadcast control.

As of 2014, TGN’s programs were viewed in 177 countries via communications satellites, cable television services, or Internet streaming, according to the channel’s now-defunct official website. ...
