Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is located in the southeastern part of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia, sharing land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Its coastline extends from the Arabian Sea on the southeast to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Gulf (also known as the Persian Gulf) to the north. Its capital city is Muscat. According to the National Statistics and Information Center in Oman (2017), the population of the Sultanate is 4,555,494, of which 55.10% are citizens and the rest noncitizens.
