Myspace, originally styled as MySpace, is a social networking site founded in 2003. Music is and always was a central component of this site, although it also features news, videos, and people profiles as well. Myspace was also enormously influential in the development of online photo-, music-, and video-sharing as well as online games. This social networking site once was the most popular site of its kind. It was reported that the 100 millionth account was created on August 9, 2006, in the Netherlands. However, after various debacles, it has been marginalized by other online competitors, most notably Facebook.
