Music Videos

Music videos are promotional videos, usually made by record companies or artists in order to sell their music via cross-promotion across different industries such as film screenings, video jukeboxes, and later, with the advent of MTV, on television. Music videos remain popular but are now mainly found on Internet sites such as YouTube instead of on television. While the history of promotional films made to sell music goes back at least to the 1930s, music videos became much more popular and well known in the 1980s with the rise of music television.
