Public Health Code

Individual states enact legislation that provides policies and procedures for each state on how to prevent and control disabilities and diseases. Such legislation is referred to collectively as the public health code or codes. Additionally, since such legislation is state driven, specific legislation provides policy on how funding is managed, any appropriations that are necessary, and sanctions for those in violation of this code. This code works in collaboration with other departmental codes such as those developed for elderly people, those with mental illness or developmental disabilities, and veterans, to name just a few.
