Compassion

Compassion is a state of mind that an individual experiences by gaining awareness of another person’s existence, and intentionally thinking about and desiring his or her well-being, which may lead to pertinent action. To be compassionate is an innate ability of human beings and a characteristic of being human. When an individual, family member, or a friend is in distress, one naturally gravitates toward assisting that person. When someone does see other individuals in pain and responds, takes action to assist them in alleviating that pain, provides a kind word to make them feel better, assists them in reducing that grief, takes action to increase their quality of life, or helps them in gaining better circumstances of living, it is recognized that this person has ...
