Over the course of a lifetime, individuals will be challenged with many mental, physical, and emotional health–related changes and challenges as they age. When one is young, aging is associated with growth, development, and discovery; many abilities peak near the age of 30, while others continue to grow and develop across an individual’s life span. Regardless of the degree to which a person’s body changes as he or she ages, individuals can be aided by the support of others who act as caregivers. Caregivers play a valuable role as they lend their eyes, ears, hands, and hearts to helping elderly people and/or people with disabilities face the challenges of aging with dignity, security, and grace.
