Sexual health is a broad term describing a person’s physical and mental well-being with regard to sexual functioning. A range of factors affect sexual health, including physical health, hormonal issues, reproductive processes, sexually transmitted diseases, disorders affecting sexual functioning or libido, psychological state, and relationship issues. Because sexual health is an important component within relationships and contributes to intimacy levels, problems with sexual health are sometimes a precursor to counseling.
